Legacy Giving

It is often said that our planet’s future is in the hands of the younger generation—but we do not have to let them fight for it alone.

The Legacy Fund for the Environment is an insurance policy for our families: a fund, built and maintained by citizen environmentalists, to ensure that wild spaces can be protected today and into the future. A testamentary donation to protect our environment is a donation to our children, grandchildren, and their grandchildren; a way to stand beside them in the challenges to come,
and to leave behind a legacy that protects our planet.

The Legacy Fund for the Environment was established in 2015 to protect the natural heritage of our descendants. True to our roots, and as our name implies, we invite donors to consider leaving us a testamentary legacy.

If you are interested in making a testamentary donation, please write to us by email at admin@legacyfundenvironmental.org with your name and phone number, and one of our core members will call you to discuss what’s involved.

How do I leave a bequest in my will?

A bequest is a gift made through your will or estate. It can reduce the taxes your estate owes. You can choose the amount you want to give, and you can change your decision at any time. To include us in your will, add a phrase stating your intention to give to the Legacy Fund for the Environment, using our legal name, address, and Canadian charitable registration number:

Legal name: Legacy Fund for the Environment LFE/Fonds d’héritage pour l’environnement FHE

Charitable registration number: 816176523RR0001

Address: 288 Rue Dubreuil, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC H9X 4A6

If you wish to explore this option, speak to a representative, or inform us that you have planned a testamentary donation, we are always available at admin@legacyfundenvironmental.org.

What kind of gift can I leave?

A gift from your estate
Part of your life insurance or retirement plan
Charitable remainder trust

Whether a specific amount, a residual gift, or a percentage of your estate, your contribution will support citizen-led legal action for conservation long into the future. We recommend that you speak with your legal advisor to explore the best way to structure your legacy gift.

Suggested wording:

“I give to Legacy Fund for the Environment LFE, charitable registration number 816176523RR0001, _____% of the residue of my estate (or the sum of $_____), to be used at the discretion of the organization.”

You can name the Legacy Fund for the Environment as a beneficiary or owner of your life insurance policy or retirement plan. To do this, contact your insurance provider or retirement plan administrator and ask how to update your beneficiary information. They can help you decide if this option works for you and identify the best way to put it in place.

A charitable remainder trust allows you to receive income from your assets during your lifetime, with the remainder going to the Legacy Fund for the Environment after. It can offer tax benefits while letting you make a meaningful future gift. Again, we recommend you speak with your lawyer or financial advisor to see if this option is right for you.
