The Legacy Fund for the Environment is supporting the SÉTHY Foundation in a legal challenge to defend a conservation project in the St. Charles Bog, located in Quebec’s agricultural zone. After a favorable decision by the CPTAQ was overturned in court, SÉTHY is seeking a judicial review to protect future conservation efforts.

This case could set a precedent, as it may require all conservation projects in agricultural zones to be approved by both municipalities and the CPTAQ—adding major hurdles for environmental nonprofits. LFE is helping cover legal costs to ensure this crucial conservation work can continue.
