This citizens’ group has formed to protect the Scouts Canada lands in the Laurentians known as Tamaracouta as well as adjacent forests. We assisted with the formation of this group and are providing funding for legal research.

Les partenaires du lac Tamaracouta et de ses environs is a group of citizens seeking to preserve and protect the site, as the municipality has not designated the site by resolution to give rise to the right of first refusal. The City’s Director General has confirmed that the property is not subject to a municipal by-law that required public notice of any proposed sale of the property.
In this context, the Partners of Lake Tamaracouta and its surroundings have made an urgent request to the Environmental Legacy Fund for an injunction to prevent any sale or conclusion of a contract for the sale of the property that is incompatible with the conservation and access of young people to the site.
On January 31, 2025, the Environmental Legacy Fund granted the Partners of Lake Tamaracouta and its surroundings an amount to conduct research on possible legal means to protect the Tamaracouta Scout Camp and the areas adjacent to it from any environmental degradation or threat of development through legal research with a view to a possible appeal.
