We’re Hiring Summer Positions!

We’re hiring 3 new positions for the summer: 1 Communications Coordinator and 2 Fundraising Organizers. The start date will be June 17th, so if you are interested please submit your application by May 31st.

Communications Coordinator

Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and proofread content for various platforms including newsletters, website, social media, and press releases.
  • Develop engaging and compelling stories that showcase the charity’s impact and activities.
  • Create and implement comprehensive communication plans aligned with the charity’s mission and goals.
  • Identify target audiences and tailor messages to effectively reach them.
  • Create visual content such as infographics, images, and videos to support communication efforts.
  • Assist in the promotion and communication of fundraising events or other charity initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of communication strategies across various platforms.
  • Prepare reports on communication efforts, including metrics like reach, engagement, and impact.
  • Work closely with the communications and fundraising committees, as well as the board of directors to ensure alignment in messaging and communication efforts.
  • Coordinate with external partners, donors, and specialists according to communication needs.
  • Communicate regularly with donors to update them on the charity’s activities and impact.

You need

  • Excellent communication skills in both English and French;
  • A nuanced understanding of the various social media platforms;
  • Experience with social media management software 
  • Experience with Canva (asset);
  • At least a Secondary School diploma or equivalent;
  • The ability to work independently;
  • Passion for the protection of the environment;

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Fundraising Organizer

Responsibilities:

  • Inside of a master fundraising strategy, create and execute smaller comprehensive fundraising efforts to achieve the organization’s financial goals.
  • Plan and schedule fundraising events.
  • Coordinate logistics, secure sponsorships, and engage volunteers to support events.
  • Develop and manage budgets for fundraising activities.
  • Monitor and report regularly to the supervisor on the financial performance of fundraising initiatives.
  • Prepare final reports on fundraising activities and outcomes for the board of directors
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor databases (data input role)
  • Work closely with the fundraising and communication committees to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
  • Work with communications team to craft fundraising tactics.
  • Research ways to reach our target demographic, using our own sources but exploring others.
  • Identify and prioritize potential funding sources, including individual donors, corporations, foundations, and government grants.
  • With support from the board, write compelling grant proposals and applications.

You need

  • Excellent communication skills in both English and French;
  • Some experience in event planning and/or fundraising (preferred);
  • To act with a heightened degree of integrity and diligence;
  • Some experience with Canada Helps, our fundraising platform (an asset);
  • Your own computer and good technological literacy;
  • At least a Secondary School diploma or equivalent;
  • The ability to work independently;
  • Demonstrated passion for the environment;
